Charles F. Dougherty

Charles Francis Dougherty ( born June 26, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ) is a former American politician. Between 1979 and 1983 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Charles Dougherty attended until 1951, the St. Helena 's School and thereafter until 1955, the St. Joseph's Preparatory School. Between 1957 and 1959 he was a member of the Reserve of the United States Marine Corps. Between 1959 and 1962 he was active in these weapons; then he was up again in 1977 a member of the reserve. In the years 1962 to 1964, he continued his education with studies at the University of Pennsylvania. At the same time he also worked as a high school teacher. From 1965 to 1966 he was an agent of the Naval Intelligence ONI. After that, he was until 1972 in various positions in the teaching profession operates. Politically, he joined the Republican Party. From 1972 to 1978 he sat in the Senate of Pennsylvania.

In the congressional elections of 1978, Dougherty was in the fourth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrats Joshua Eilberg on January 3, 1979. After a re-election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1983 two legislative sessions. In 1982 he was not re-elected.

In the years 1992, 1998 and 2000, he applied to each unsuccessfully to return to Congress.
