Charles Leickert

Charles Henri Joseph Leickert ( born September 22, 1816 in Brussels, † December 5, 1907 in Mainz ) was a Belgian painter of realism.

Life

Charles Leickert took private painting and drawing classes in The Hague, among others, Bartholomew van Hove, Wijnand Nuijen and Andreas Schelfhout. He specialized in landscape painting, especially in winter. Worked between 1841-1848 and lived Leickert in The Hague and from 1849 to 1883 in Amsterdam. In 1856 he was elected a member of the Royal Academy of Amsterdam. In later years, he traveled to Italy, France and Germany.
