Charles Leslie Wrenn

Charles Leslie Wrenn also CL Wrenn (* 1895, † 1969) was a British philologist and professor of Anglo-Saxon linguistics ( Rawlinson and Bosworth Professor of Anglo - Saxon ).

Life

Wrenn taught from 1945 to 1963 as a Fellow of Pembroke College at Oxford University. He was the successor of JRR Tolkien, who previously held this position. Like Tolkien, he was a member of the association " Inklings ", which belonged to other professors and writers such as CS Lewis, Nevill Coghill, Colin Hardie or Hugo Dyson.
