Charles Lyell, 3rd Baron Lyell

Charles Lyell, 3rd Baron Lyell ( born March 27, 1939) is a British politician and member of the House of Lords for the Conservative Party.

Lord Lyell is the son of Charles Anthony Lyell, 2nd Baron Lyell and Sophie Mary Trafford. He inherited in 1943 at the age of 4 years, the title fell when his father during the Second World War, he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross. After the formation of the Conservative government in 1979, became Lord Lyell Whip, a position he retained until 1984. He then went as a Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Ministry of Northern Ireland, where he served until 1989.

With the passing of the House of Lords Act 1999, he lost along with all other Erbpeers ( Hereditary peers) the automatic seat in the House of Lords. However, he was chosen as one of 92 selected Erbpeers that remained after the reform in the House.

He is a fan and shareholder of Everton FC.
