Charles Mintz

Charles B. Mintz (* 1896, † January 4, 1940 ) was an American film producer, who was twice nominated for an Oscar for best animated short film.

Biography

Mintz began in 1925 with the movie Hot Dogs as a producer of animated short films and produced in the course of his career until his death around 370 cartoons and animated films. He produced especially for Universal Pictures and Columbia Pictures Comics as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit or Krazy Kat

For Holiday Land (1934 ), he was first nominated for the Academy Awards in 1935 for an Oscar for best animated short film. Another nomination in this category, he received in 1938 for The Little Match Girl ( 1937).

Other well-known productions were the early Walt Disney films Trolley Troubles (1927) and The Mechanical Cow ( 1927).
