Charles-Pierre Chapsal
Charles -Pierre Chapsal (* 1787 in Paris, † January 27, 1858 ) was a French grammarian, lexicographer and linguist.
Life and work
Chapsal was the first employee of Charles -Pierre Girault - Duvivier on its grammar, then coach, later teacher at the Gymnasium Louis -le- Grand in Paris. In 1823 he published with François Noël ( 1756-1841 ) Nouvelle grammaire française sur un plan très méthodique, avec de nombreux exercices d' orthographe, de syntaxe et de ponctuation, which replaced the grammar of Charles -François Lhomond in an unprecedented triumph until 1905 reached numerous editions and, along with other common plants, Chapsal made rich, especially after the death of Noël, he survived 17 years. From 1843 to 1848 and from 1851 to 1858 he was mayor from Joinville- le -Pont, owner of the local castle Polangis and benefactor of the community in which a street bears his name.
