Charles Racquet

Charles Racquet (* about 1598 in Paris, † January 1, 1664 ) was a French organist and composer.

Life and work

Charle Racquet received his training from his father Balthasar Racquet (around 1575-1630 ). He worked all his life in his hometown of Paris, where he had from 1618 to 1656 held the position of organist at Notre Dame de Paris. The mid- 1640s, his son Jean Racquet Assistentdes father. Charles Racquet was also organist of the Queen Mother Anne d'Autriche.

Racquet was alsausgezeichneter organist and composer, he probably created a large number of works for his instrument, of which only twelve psalm verses and a fantasy are retained.
