Charles Sedelmeyer

Charles Sedelmeyer (* 1837, † 1925) was an Austrian art dealers and art collectors.

Life

As an art dealer Sedelmeyer worked in Paris from 1866, where he owned his own gallery. In 1901 he sold the painting Colonna Madonna by Raphael at the American JP Morgan. The sale was in that year the most expensive paintings of his time. In 1893 he acquired the French castle Ambleville. Sedelmeyer was married. His daughter Emilie married the art historian Stanislas Lami.
