Charles Tristan, marquis de Montholon

Charles Tristan, marquis de Montholon, Earl of Lee, (* 1782 in Paris; † August 24, 1853 in Paris) was Adjutant-General of the Emperor Napoleon I.

Life and work

From an old legal family, he distinguished himself already in 1792 as a midshipman on board the Juno in the squadron of Admiral Laurent Truguet during the expedition to Sardinia from, entered 1798 in a cavalry regiment and fought in Italy, Germany and Poland, and in 1807 promoted to colonel.
