Charlie Nicholas

Charles " Charlie" Nicholas ( born December 30, 1961 in Glasgow ) is a former Scottish footballer.

Life and career

Nicholas began his career at Celtic. The Scot came in 1980 with the Greens under contract. In the season 1982/1983 Nicholas was so successful that he was honored as player of the year in Scotland. In June 1983, he was hired by Arsenal FC. The transfer fee was £ 800,000. Because of his way of life, he was in London also called Champagne Charlie. After a relatively unsuccessful years in London he moved in 1988 to FC Aberdeen. After only two years he came to where he started: Celtic Glasgow. In 1996, he finished his career after an interlude at FC Clyde. Internationally, he played 20 times for the Scottish national football team and scored five goals. Nicholas participated in the Football World Cup 1982 in Spain and some difference with only a draw with the team in the group phase. Today, he is a columnist for various newspapers and analyst for Sky Sports.
