Charlie Pasarell

Charles " Charlie" Pasarell Manuel, Jr. ( born February 12, 1944 in San Juan, Puerto Rico ) is a former American tennis player and functionary.

Career

Charlie Pasarell began his career in 1960 as an amateur and was from 1968 to 1979 as a professional player is active. Throughout his career, he won 23 titles in single and doubles title 30. While he only twice reached the quarterfinals in singles at Grand Slam tournaments, he could reach three times in doubles with different partners the final: 1965 at the U.S. National Championships in 1970 at the French Open and 1977 Australian Open.

Between 1966 and 1974 he played five games for the U.S. Davis Cup team. He won each of his three individual lots, four double games he won three.

After his playing career, he was instrumental in helping to lift from the baptism in 1987, the Indian Wells Masters. By 2012, he was the tournament director. In 2013 he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
