Charlotte Epstein

Charlotte " Eppie " Epstein (* September 1884 in New York City; † 1938) is considered the "Mother of woman swimming in America " known. She founded the Women's Swimming Association (WSA ) and coached the Olympic swimming team of women in the years 1920, 1924 and 1928.

Epstein was born in 1884 in New York City and worked as a stenographer, as in 1917, together with her ​​colleagues decided that swimming would be good to make some movement.

In 1920, she founded the women's swim team (Women's Swimming Association, ESC) and was known that she was largely unknown to a time when women's sport still and sport was felt for the well-being of women as not beneficial, promoted the health benefits of swimming exercises.
