Charlotte Marie of Saxe-Jena

Charlotte Marie of Saxe- Jena (* December 20, 1669 in Jena, † January 6, 1703 in Gräfentonna ) was a Princess of Saxe -Jena and by marriage Duchess of Saxe- Weimar.

Life

Charlotte Marie was the only daughter of Duke Bernard of Saxe- Jena (1638-1678) from his marriage to Marie Charlotte (1630-1682), daughter of Henri de La Trémoille, duc de Thouars. After her brother Johann Wilhelm 1690 only 15 -year-old died of smallpox, Charlotte Marie was the only remaining member of the House of Saxe -Jena.

Charlotte Marie was described as extremely beautiful and well-behaved, but also superficial and frivolous.
