Charnay-lès-Mâcon

Charnay- lès -Mâcon is a commune with 6835 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Saône -et -Loire in the Burgundy region. It belongs administratively to the arrondissement and canton of Mâcon Mâcon Centre.

Geography

The municipality is located in the metropolitan area west of Mâcon, in the countryside of Mâcon. Neighboring municipalities are:

  • Hurigny in the north,
  • Macon in the east and south,
  • Fuissé and Pouilly Solutrense in the southwest,
  • Davayé in the west and
  • Prissé and Chevagny -les- Chevrières in the northwest.

On the western boundary of the municipality of the river Petite Grosne, which flows into the Saône to Mâcon runs.

History

The place is 739 testified under the name Carnacus. This consists of a hand composed of the Welsh Carn for " cairn " and the suffix - acum also Welsh for a place or property. He is homonymous with Carnac, Carnac- Rouffiac, Charnat and various other community names with the Charnay part.
