Châteauneuf-de-Vernoux

Châteauneuf -de- Vernoux is a commune with 201 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in Ardèche, in the Rhône -Alpes.

Geography

The municipality extends to the Plateau de Vernoux, a plateau in the center of the department, bordering inter alia to the surrounding municipalities Vernoux -en- Vivarais and Boffres. The nearest major town is Guilherand -Granges in 18 kilometers north-east from the hotel.

History

The village of Châteauneuf originally stood under the seigniory of two families, the Tournon and the Barjac de Pierregourde. In the 17th century it came subsequently into the possession of the Lords of Entrevaux, René Bénéfice. During the French Revolution, the city bore the toponym Mont Félix.

Policy

The place belongs to any community association. Since March 2008, the nonpartisan Christian Alibert mayor of Châteauneuf.

Culture and sights

Châteauneuf is rich in historic buildings. It houses among others a fortified castle and the castle of Périer. Furthermore, to visit the ruins of a feudal castle with a square donjon, which dominate the place on a wide green space. There is also an information board.

The church of Saint -Félix in 1672 stands near a classical chapel from the 16th century. In addition, a small temple was erected in 1861 on the remains of a plant from the 17th century.

Economy and infrastructure

The elderly population of Châteauneuf is mainly engaged in agriculture.
