The Chatkal (Russian Чаткал, also Каракульджа ( Karakuldscha ) ) is a source of the river Chirchiq in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

The Chatkal springs on the southwest flank of the Talas Alatau in the Kyrgyz Jalalabad region. It flows in a southwesterly direction through the mountains. East of the river extends the ridge of the Chatkal Mountains. In the lower reaches of the Chatkal flows through the Besh -Aral Nature Reserve, later turns westward and reaches the Uzbek Tashkent Province. He finally ends after 223 km in the south-eastern end of the Chorvoq Reservoir, which is drained by the Syr Darya tributary Chirchiq. Its catchment area covers 7110 km ². The Chatkal is mainly fed by snowmelt. The medium outlet ( MQ ) near the mouth of 122 m³ / s, the largest amount to drains 920 m³ / s Kanysh - Kyya, the administrative center of Rajon Chatkal, is located on the middle reaches of the Chatkal.
