Cheb Sahraoui

Cheb Sahraoui, born as Mohammed Sahraoui in Tlemcen, is an Algerian raï musician.

Sahraoui is considered gifted pianist and has four years studying at the Conservatory in Oran. In the late 1970s he met his future wife, Chaba Fadela, with whom he also collaborated for the next 20 years. At first, the duo occurred only at weddings and similar private celebrations. In their first joint publication " N'sel Fik " 1983 - produced by Rachid Baba Ahmed - they earned in the West growing reputation, among others in 1993 in a collaboration with Bill Laswell on the album " Walli " and successful international tours reflected. " N'Sel Fik " was included in the list Wire The Wire 's " 100 Records That Set The World On Fire (While No One Was Listening ) ".

In the late 1990s broke the marriage and also the artistic collaboration. Since then Sahraoui works alone again.
