The Chechen State University (Russian Чеченский государственный университет, Chechen Нохчийн мехкан университет / Noxçiyn mexkan universitet also briefly CHGU ( Grozny ) and Uni ( versity ) Grozny called ) in Grozny is the largest university in the Russian republic of Chechnya.

It was founded in 1938 and initially was called " Grosnyer Teacher Training Institute ". The Institute, however, was soon converted it into a university. The university was during the two Chechen wars seriously damaged and re-opened in April 2000. In the winter semester 2011 19.022 students were enrolled.
