Cheikh Anta Diop University

The Université Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar is a. It is also known as the University of Dakar and abbreviated with UCAD.

It is named after the Senegalese scholar Cheikh Anta Diop.

History of the University

The Université Cheikh Anta Diop is often considered the successor to the l' École de Médecine de l' AOF - Afrique Occidentale Française called. It was founded in 1957 and is the oldest French -language university in sub-Saharan Africa. In 2004, approximately 40,000 students were enrolled at that institution.
