Chevenoz

Chevenoz is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Chevenoz is located on 807 m above sea level. M., 13 km east-southeast of the town of Thonon -les- Bains ( straight line ). The village is located in the Chablais, on a Verebnungsfläche on the sunny northern flank of the Dranse d' Abondance, in the northern Savoy Alps.

The area of ​​10:54 km ² municipal area includes a section of the Vallée d' Abondance. The valley is oriented in the range of Chevenoz from east to west. It is bordered to the north by the height of the Tête des treches ( 1420 m above sea level. M. ). To the south, the municipality's area extends to the summit of the Pointe de l' Aiguille (1502 m above sea level. M. ) and the de pointes Tréchauffex ( with 1636 m above sea level. M. the highest elevation of Chevenoz ).

To Chevenoz include the hamlets of Le Plan de Chevenoz ( 792 m above sea level. M. ) Le Cret (880 m above sea level. M. ) and Arce ( 800 m above sea level. M. ) on the northern side of the valley and Le Fion (805 m above sea level. M. ) and Plainesserve ( 800 m above sea level. M. ) on a terrace on the southern flank of the Dranse d' Abondance. Neighboring communities of Chevenoz are Bernex in the north, Vacheresse to the east, La Baume and La Forclaz in the south and Vinzier in the West.

History

Population

With 561 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Chevenoz is one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. In recent decades, a continuous growth of the population was recorded thanks to the beautiful residential area. Outside of the old village created numerous houses.

Economy and infrastructure

Chevenoz was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by farming village. Today there are various businesses of the local small businesses; of importance is the wood-processing industry. Many working population commuters who engage in the larger towns in the area, especially in Thonon -les- Bains, their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares of a link road from Evian- les- Bains in the Vallée d' Abondance.
