Cheverny

Cheverny is a commune with 955 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Loir -et -Cher in the Centre region. Cheverny is about 10 km southeast of Blois and about 15 km from the famous Chambord castle situated away.

In the Cheverny is also known Cheverny. The village lies on the edge of the Sologne region, which is extremely rich with forests and lakes.

Cheverny wine region

Cheverny is the wine region in the parent Loire ( wine region ) its name. 2000 hectares approved Reblandes spread over 24 municipalities. Of the 2000 acres currently about 400 hectares are planted. After the territory was defined in 1973 and was awarded the status of a VDQS, Cheverny rose to the rank of Appellation d' Origine (AOC ) on 26 March 1993. Simultaneously, the Cour -Cheverny appellation was established, which is devoted exclusively to the grape variety Romorantin.

The white wines of the vineyard Cheverny are blend of Sauvignon Blanc ( 60-80 %) with a possible admixture of Arbois, Chardonnay or Chenin Blanc (called Pineau blanc de la Loire) expanded.

The red wines are made from blends of Gamay and Pinot Noir with possible additions of Cabernet Franc and Malbec (called Côt ) were prepared. You have to drink a fruity and pleasant in youth.

The rose wines are made predominantly from Gamay.
