Chiajna

Chiajna is a town in the southwest of the circle Ilfov in Romania, located in the west of the capital Bucharest. In 2007 the municipality had 8,162 inhabitants.

Name

In one version it is, Chiajna was named after the wife of Cernica Stirbey, a Vlachs, who owned the land area. His compatriots from Cernavoda settled the area and built the first houses.

Another story tells that the name of the Baroness Chiajna (approx. 1525 to 1588, Konstantin Opel ), a daughter of Petru Rareş, a voivode of Moldavia, who was the illegitimate child of Ştefan cel Mare, originates. She was the wife of the Vlachs and Prince Mircea V Ciobanul. Chiajna is represented in the Romanian literature as a famous and fearless woman.
