Chilko River

The Chilko River is a 75 km long waterway in the Chilcotin District in west-central British Columbia, Canada. It connects the Chilko Lake to the Chilcotin River. Its main tributary is the Taseko River.
Etymology
The name comes from the word Tsilhqox, meaning " red ocher river ", from the language of the Chilcotin. The reported name of the Chilcotin River originates from the Chilcotin Indians. Chilcotin means people from the ocher - red - river.
