Chip Peterson

Chip Peterson ( born December 3, 1987 in Morehead City, North Carolina, United States) is an American long-distance swimmer.

Chip Peterson won at the World Swimming Championships in 2005 in Montréal gold over 10 kilometers from the German Thomas Lurz, and silver over the 5 miles behind Lurz. He was jointly awarded Thomas Lurz as open water swimmer of the year 2005.

In 2006, he was 10-kilometer open water at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Victoria winner. In the Open Water National Championships 2007 he won about 5 and 10 kilometers.
