Chipping Norton Railway

The Chipping Norton Railway was a British railway company in Oxfordshire in England.

The Company was incorporated on July 31, 1854 to build a 7-kilometer long stretch of Kingham on the route of the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway. The standard gauge line was opened on 1 June 1855. Main owner of the company was the OW & WR. 1859, the company acquired the remaining shares in the company. In 1863 the company was taken over by the Great Western Railway.

In 1873 the Chipping Norton Railway together with the Bourton-on -the-Water Railway Banbury and Cheltenham Direct Railway that that extended the distance from Chipping Norton to Kings Sutton.
