Chiquinquirá

Chiquinquirá is a city and municipality in the Colombian Department of Boyacá, part of the subregion of the Western Boyacá Province. Located about 115 km north of Bogotá, Chiquinquirá is 2570 m above sea level and has an average annual temperature of 14 ° C.

Chiquinquirá consists of two zones: the urban zone or town, which is formed of about 40 residential areas between layers 1 and 4, and the rural area, which is divided into 17 sub-areas that are around the city.

Chiquinquirá is regarded as the religious capital of Colombia. It is home to the Basilica de Chiquinquirá, which houses the image of the Virgin de Chiquinquirá, the patron saint of Colombia. Chiquinquirá is an important point of pilgrimage.
