Choapa River

The Río Choapa is a river in Chile. It is situated in the Región IV of Chile, about 200 km north of Santiago de Chile. It has a length of 160 km.

It is formed by the confluence of the rivers Río CunCumen and Río Totoral. In addition, it is fed by Río Illapel and Río Chalinga. It ends at the city Huentelauquen in the Pacific Ocean. The most important city in its vicinity is Illapel. The river is an important source of drinking water for the region IV

The Río Choapa forms the northern border of the Mapuche tribal area.
