Chono people

The tribe of the Chonos populated the island of Chiloé and the south thereof islands and fjords to the peninsula Taitao in southern Chile. From their language, only about six words have been preserved. They lived as nomads from fishing and became extinct after the arrival of European settlers or in the population of the island of Chiloé received ( mestizos ). The last Chonos were sighted during an expedition in 1835.
