Chopok

The Chopok is 2023.6 m height after Dumbier ( 2043.4 m ) and the Štiavnica ( 2025.3 m) is the third highest mountain in the Low Tatras. It lies between the mountains and Dereše Konské. Its northern side is marked by stone walls and deep gorges, the move to the north-east in the basin of the Luková valley where Moränenreste have deposited and also a small lake formed, while the south side has strewn with boulders hanging.

You can reach the Chopok on the blue marked path from Luková - valley (60 min to have 45 minutes back ). You can get there by cable car from the refuge Koliesko in Demänovská Dolina. Another possibility is from the south: On foot (round 2 hours and a half hours back ) on the yellow marked trail from the hotel Kosodrevina in Bystra valley from which in turn is accessible from the hotel Srdiečko from the cable car. On the top of Chopok mountain hut is Kamenná chata pod Chopkom ( German as " Chopok - stone hut ") and a television station and a meteorological station.
