Christa Dichgans

Christa Dichgans ( born April 6, 1940 in Berlin ) is a German painter and graphic artist of the Pop Art movement.

Life

Dichgans was born in Berlin in 1940 and studied painting at the Academy of Arts in Berlin.

In 1966 she came with a scholarship of the German National Academic Foundation to New York, but returned the following year returned to Europe and settled in Rome. Since 1972 she lives in Berlin and La Haute Carpénée in southern France. Between 1984 and 1988 she worked as an assistant to Georg Baselitz at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin.

Exhibitions

Since 1967, there have been numerous solo exhibitions of her paintings, including Berlin, New York, Paris, Venice, Buenos Aires, Zurich and Moscow, as well as several group exhibitions. She was one of nine artists in the Pop Art exhibition Power Up - Female Pop Art at Kunsthalle Vienna in winter 2010 /2011.
