Christian August, Prince of Anhalt-Zerbst

Christian August, Prince of Anhalt -Zerbst ( born November 29, 1690 in Thorn Castle; † March 16, 1747 in Zerbst ) was a Royal Prussian Field Marshal, father of Russian Empress Catherine II and son of Johann Ludwig I of Anhalt -Zerbst.

Life

After Christian August 1708 was about half a year as a captain in the regiment of Guards, he received on February 11, 1709 a company in the regiment Anhalt -Zerbst walk (1806: . No. 8 ), which in 1688 led this name and its tradition in 19th century, the Grenadier Regiment King Friedrich Wilhelm IV ( l Pommersches ) No. 2 was continuing. It was stationed in Szczecin. On November 8, 1727, he married in Vechelde at Brunswick, the 15 -year-old Johanna Elisabeth of Holstein- Gottorp ( 1712-1760 ), daughter of Christian August of Schleswig -Holstein - Gottorp.
