Christian Buchmann

Christian Buchmann ( born September 27, 1962 in Graz) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP) and since 2005 Minister for Economy, Europe, and culture in Styria.

Life and career

Buchmann made ​​in 1981 Graduated from Bundesgymnasium Carnerigasse Graz, and then military service. Then he took a degree in economics at the Karl- Franzens- University of Graz and University of California Los Angeles ( UCLA). Buchmann took over from 1978 to 1981 positions in the student council. In the period between 1987 and 1992 he was chairman of the Young ÖVP city of Graz and 1990-1993 Federal Financial Officer of the JVP. From 1998 to 2003 Buchmann worked as club vice-president in the council of the City of Graz. In 2004 he took the post of the chairman of the Graz Economic Association, which he remained until 2008. He began his career in 1982 as National Secretary of the Young ÖVP Styria.
