Christian Meyer (politician)

Christian Meyer ( born July 23, 1975 in Minden wood ) is a German politician ( Alliance 90/The Greens ) and since February 19, 2013 Minister for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of the State of Lower Saxony in the cabinet of Stephan Weil.

Political action

Meyer was 2006-2013 alderman in the City Council wood Minden. He was also from 1996 to 2001 and again since 2006 Member of District Assembly in wood Minden, since 1998 Group spokesman from 2000 to 2001 Group speaker and since 2006 to 2013 spokesman for the district council faction of Alliance 90/The Greens. In the state elections in Lower Saxony in 2008, he moved over the national list for the first time into the line lock.

After the parliamentary elections on January 20, 2013 he was again a Member of the Lower Saxon Landtag. When choosing achieved SPD and the Greens, a majority of one seat in Parliament, whereupon both parties formed a government. On February 19, 2013 Christian Meyer was sworn in as the new Minister for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection in the cabinet of Prime Minister Stephen Weil.

On August 29, 2013 was Prime Minister Stephan Weil announced the dismissal of Secretary of State in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection Udo Paschedag (Green Party), which was thus prematurely displaced into temporary retirement. Paschedag had violated, among others, by a false written statement on his official car confidence. Meyer is here alleged to have known of the wrong note for weeks.

Life

After graduation in 1995 at the Campe -Gymnasium wood Minden Meyer graduated from the civil service in Sprachheilkindergarten of life coaching wood Minden. From 1996 to 2002 he studied Economics, Public Law, Political and Media Studies at the University of Göttingen with the diploma Sozialwirt. In 2003, he worked for MEP Hiltrud Breyer in the areas of climate change, environment, energy and nuclear phase-out in Berlin and Brussels. From 2004 until moving into the state parliament in 2008, he was CEO of the association ecological tax reform.

He is a member of BUND, Greenpeace, WWF, attac, GBG, Holzmindener board, citizens 'initiative per Fachhochschule wood Minden and the citizens' initiative against the sale of public utilities wood Minden.
