Christiane Nord

Christiane Nord ( * September 13 1943 in Eberswalde as Christiane Prahst ) is a German translation scholar. She has taught at various universities and colleges such as the University of Heidelberg, the University of Vienna and the University of Magdeburg- Stendal. Life

North is married to Klaus Berger and has two children. Together with her husband north has translated parts of the Bible.

Career

From 1967 to 1996, North lecturer in the Spanish department of the Institute of Translation and Interpretation at the University of Heidelberg. From 1991 to 1992 she held at the Institute for Translator and Interpreter Training, Vienna University as a visiting professor in the field of translation studies as well as the Spanish translation science, for which she was on leave from her teaching at the University of Heidelberg. Another leave of absence was made from 1994 to 1996 as part of a professor at the University of Hildesheim. In the years 1996 and 1997 North held a visiting professorship at the Institute for Translator and Interpreter Training, University of Innsbruck.

From 1996 to 2005 she was Professor of Applied Linguistics and Technical Translation (Spanish) in the Department of Communication and Media at the University of Magdeburg- Stendal and was also responsible for teaching the Spanish area. Research
