Christoph Ernst Luthardt

Christoph Ernst Luthardt ( born March 22, 1823 in Maroldsweisach, Lower Franconia, Bavaria, † September 21, 1902 in Leipzig ) was a German Lutheran theologian.

Life

Luthardt taught starting in 1854 as an associate professor of dogmatic theology and exegesis in Marburg, from 1856 until his retirement in 1896 as professor in Leipzig. Since 1875 he was a canon of the Prince-Bishopric of Meissen. One of his students was Ernest of Dobschütz (1870-1934), later professor in Halle ( Saale). During his studies, he joined in the summer semester 1841 Uttenruthia Erlangen at the Black Castle covenant.

From 1868 to 1880 he was editor of the General Lutheran Church newspaper, from 1880 to 1900 the Theological Literature Journal.
