Christopher Báthory

Christopher Báthory ( by Somlyo, Hungarian Báthory Kristof, * 1530; buried on 27 May 1581 White Castle ) was Voivode of Transylvania and brother of the Polish king Stefan Batory.

1557 commissioned him to Queen Isabella to visit the French king in France. In the years around 1565 Christopher Báthory was in the service of Johann Sigismund Zápolya and posted Chust against Turkish troops a significant victory. Between 1571 and 1576 Christopher Báthory captain of the fortress Wardein ( Várad ). When his brother Stephen Báthory was in 1576 raised to the Polish king, Christoph voivode of Transylvania was.
