Christopher Langton

Christopher Langton ( b. 1949 ) is a theoretical biologist and a co-founder of the research discipline of Artificial Life, a term he introduced the late 80s.

Langton was part of the Working Group on Complex Systems in the theoretical department of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, is the faculty of the Santa Fe Institute to. 1987 Langton held at the Los Alamos Lab, the first International Conference on Artificial Life.

From him comes Langton's ant is a simple cellular automaton and an example of artificial life. Another simulation by him are the Langton loops dar. Langton's Lambda - measure is a dimensionless quantity that captures the complexity in an evolutionary system. Most interesting systems tend to converge to a certain value of lambda.
