Christopher of Prague

Christopher ( born June 29, 1953 in Prague as Radim Pulec ) is Archbishop of Prague and was up to April 12, 2013 Metropolitan of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia.

Pulec was ordained a deacon and on December 25, 1974 November 11, a priest. In 1985 he was admitted to the Trinity Monastery of St. Sergius and gave himself the religious name Christoph. In 1987 he was appointed Archimandrite and served at the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Prague. In 1988 the episcopal ordination and he was elected bishop of Olomouc and Brno. On 28 May 2006 he Christoph, who was Archbishop of Prague since 2000, as the successor of Nikolai in the office of Metropolitan of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. On April 12, 2013, resigned after he was accused of having broken his vow. As a reason for his resignation Christoph identified the necessity to preserve the unity of the Church. The charges brought against him accusations he denied.
