Chrobry fortified village in Szprotawa

The Wallburg Brave is an early Polish castle complex in the Lower Silesian town Szprotawa (formerly German Sprottau ) in the district Ilawa ( German Eulau ). It is located in Bobertal in the area of the nature reserve of Slavic Park.

History

The castle is very likely identical with the castle of Ilva Dadosanen that in 1000 the place of meeting of the Polish duke Bolesław the Brave with the German Emperor Otto III. was on its journey to the grave of the holy to be spoken Adalbert of Prague to Gniezno. Hence the present name of the plant.

Plant

Its surface is approximately 4 hectares and the height of about 6 feet. It is a polygonal construction with distinct regularity and strong bottom slope. Around the castle there are fractures and Moore, nowadays partially dried. It is one of the largest of its kind in Poland.

By the year 1945, the object was called " nuns Buschberg " because the grounds formerly belonged to the local Magdalene convent. Since May 30, 2007 Wallburg was at the request of the Association of Lower Silesia Heath cultural monument within the said reserve.

Archaeological excavations

Vice-principal Gloger described the archaeological site as Wallburg from the Polish time before German colonization, but gives no studies on this.

Maciej Boryna from the Muzeum Ziemi Szprotawskiej found on the object medieval ceramic material and is of the opinion that this castle was either never completed or used only a short time ..

Nearby there are smaller archaeological culture archaeological monuments that could be related to the castle wall.
