Chrysoprase

Chrysoprase (from the Greek: χρυσός chrysos = " gold " and πράσον prason = " leek " ) is a variety of microcrystalline quartz variety chalcedony and therefore has the same chemical, physical and optical properties as this one. To find Chrysoprase is including in the serpentinite transitions near Szklary in Poland.

Due to additions of nickel-containing talc cerolite has an apple green chrysoprase to emerald green color, but may fade under the influence of heat and sunlight over time. This aging can be halted or even reversed by wet storage.

Chrysoprase is a popular but sensitive gemstone, which is often imitated by using green colored agate, which, according CIBJO determination, however, must be specified.
