CIBJO

The International Jewellery, Silverware, Diamonds, Pearls and Stones, short CIBJO ( from the French: Confédération Internationale de la Bijouterie, Joaillerie, Orfèvrerie of Diamantes, Perles et Pierres or World Jewelry Confederation called ), is an international trading organization based in Switzerland.

The primary objective of this organization, known as the " United Nations of the jewelry industry," describes itself, is the standardization and harmonization of the Declaration provisions which are set out in the annual meeting of all members and ratified exécutif by the committee. As a final instance of the CIBJO shall meet the assemble of délégués every two years.

History

The CIBJO went in 1961 from the European organization BIBOA, later BIBOAH (founded in 1926), and. Delegates from ten European countries gave the organization at a meeting in Pforzheim new statutes to extend this to a global field of activity.

Currently (as of 2006) is the CIBJO from over twenty national umbrella organizations and is divided into four independent bodies dealing with the manufacture and wholesale of jewelery and silverware, as well as the trading and processing of diamonds, gemstones, pearls, and the Retailing of jewelery is concerned.

Since the beginning of 2006, the CIBJO is at the UN office in Vienna officially as a non -governmental organization ( NGO) recognized and represents the interests of the world jewelery association in terms of improving consumer protection aspects.
