Chuck E. Weiss

Chuck E. Weiss ( born 1952 in Denver, Colorado ) is an American songwriter, drummer and singer.

Life

Chuck E. Weiss grew up in Denver, Colorado, where his parents owned a record store. Through his parents and on his visits to the local blues bar Ebbett 's Field, he met Lightnin ' Hopkins know who was impressed with his drumming and took him on tour. So Weiss got the opportunity to gigs with Muddy Waters, Howlin 'Wolf, Roger Miller, Dr. John and others.

In 1981, he released his debut album the Other Side of Town, with the participation of Dr. John, Rickie Lee Jones, and others. In 1999 he released his next album Extremely Cool in collaboration with Tom Waits as a co- producer. Waits also sings on the last two tracks of the album. Had first met the two already in 1972 in the Ebbett 's Field, as Weiss played in the house band at the club. Although Waits in 1999 with his typical sound almost three decades had been very successful internationally, it is hard to judge who has influenced whom more in singing and composing style.

A wider range of Delta blues to zydeco and with significantly lower hints of Waits then showed the following album Old Souls and Wolf Tickets from the year 2002. 2006 appeared 23rd & Stout, whose musical blend of rock 'n' roll, jazz and blues and white referred to themselves as " Discom - bop - ulated jive ".

Chuck E. Weiss was the type of Rickie Lee Jones hit Chuck E. 's in Love from their 1979 debut album from which the song says that he is in love "with the little girl singing this song ." Jones, who was then in a relationship with Tom Waits, however, said that the song is fictitious. All three lived at this time at the Tropicana Motel in Los Angeles amid a rain music scene with artists such as Jackson Browne, The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Warren Zevon, Frank Zappa and others.

References to white are also available on the Tom Waits albums Small Change and Nighthawks at the Diner; White also appears on the cover photo of Nighthawks .... Weiss himself cites as his idol Louis Jordan.
