Chuck Willis

Harold "Chuck" Willis ( born January 31, 1928 in Atlanta, Georgia, † April 10, 1958 ) was an American blues and rhythm-and - blues singer and songwriter.

Willis sang first with a few local bands before 1951 a contract with Columbia Records signed. Initial success in the R & B charts he had with the cover versions by Fats Domino Goin ' to the River. From him comes the original by I Feel So Bad, which was a hit for Elvis Presley in 1961. He even reached 8th place in 1954, the R & B charts. Starting in 1956, Willis published by Atlantic Records. In 1957 his most successful recording, a cover of Gertrude "Ma" Rainey's CC Rider, reached the position of one of R & B and pop charts of the twelfth place. In 1958, he died of peritonitis at the age of 30 years.

His version of the song CC Rider was taken from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the list of 500 songs that shaped rock and roll. Later many bands who covered his songs, including The Band, Charlie Rich, Otis Redding, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison and Derek and the Dominos.
