Chui A-poo

Chui A- poo (Chinese徐亚 保, Pinyin Yàbǎo Xu, † 1851) was a Chinese pirate who commanded a fleet of more than 50 junks in the South China Sea in the 19th century.

In September 1849 his fleet, which had its base in the bias - bay south of Hong Kong, was destroyed by British warships. More than 400 pirates were killed and Chui A- poo was severely wounded. First, although he managed to escape, but he was betrayed and delivered. An abandoned him because of the gruesome murder of two officers bounty of $ 500 may have contributed. His sentence, life-long exile in Van Diemen's Land (present day Tasmania ), however, he no longer went to because he previously hanged himself in his cell.
