Church Educational System
The Church Educational System ( CES short of Engl. Church Educational System) is an organization of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ( Mormons). Part of this education is the seminary and institute program. In addition to education includes the following schools and universities:
- Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah
- Brigham Young University - Hawaii in Laie, Hawaii
- Brigham Young University - Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho
- LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah
19 primary and secondary schools in Fiji, Kiribati, Mexico, New Zealand, Samoa and Tonga
Seminaries and Institutes
The seminar program take part in youth 14 to 18 years. The seminary is usually in the morning before school and taught Christian principles. In remote areas there are once a week, a common class of all students who do the course in self study during the week. There are four particular courses that are repeated every 4 years. The courses deal with the scriptures of the Church.
The individual courses are:
- The Book of Mormon
- Doctrine and Covenants and Church History
- Old Testament
- New Testament
The Institute program for young adults aged 18 to 30 years, comprising in the same year the same courses as the seminar program. In addition, any additional courses are, as required, offered. CES provides manuals for teachers and students, videos and other materials for each of these courses. For the participants of the courses are free.
