Church Island

Iceland Church (Welsh Ynys Dysilio or Tysilio ) in the Menai Strait is an island of Anglesey in Wales. This island is connected to a dam, which is but washed over in rough seas. The tidal currents in the Menai Straits are among the wildest of the British Isles. The total area of the island is occupied by St. Tysilios old church and its cemetery. St. Tysilio was a monk who is said to have lived in the 6th century and founded a church here, but which disappeared without a trace. The small Church today, still without electric supply, goes back to the founding in 1400. The Anglesey Coast Path (Isle of Anglesey Coast Path ) runs past here.
