Church of Our Lady Victorious

The Church of Our Lady Victorious ( Kostel Panny Marie Vítězné ) in the Lesser Town is a church of the Congregation of the Carmelites in the Czech Republic.

History

The church was consecrated on 26 July 1613 Protestant Church of the Holy Trinity. It replaced a 1584 chapel was built. After the victory of the forces of the Catholic League in the Battle of White Mountain on 8 November 1620 it was decided to also in the opinion of the Emperor Ferdinand II by a miraculous image of the Carmelite cloister General Dominic a Jesus Maria, recatholicisation began in Prague. In 1993, after nearly 210 - year absence of the Order, the Church of Italian at the request of the Prague Archbishop Miloslav Vlk Carmelites of the Ligurian province was handed over, the revived the monastery and the church in cooperation with Carmelite Fathers of Poland on 2 July 1993. In addition to the pastoral care they are there, including the veneration of the Infant Jesus, which is dedicated to the miraculous holy image of the Infant Jesus, promote and supervise. On 26 September 2009, the Church of Our Lady of Victories and the miraculous image of the Infant Jesus of Prague were the first stop on the Apostolic trip to the Czech Republic by Pope Benedict XVI .. He stopped there a short speech and prayed for the families.
