Church of the Assumption (Uzundzhovo)

The Church of Assumption Bogorodichno ( Bulgarian църква " Успение Богородично " Church of the Assumption ) is a Bulgarian Orthodox church in the village Usundschowo, near Haskovo in southern Bulgaria. It is dedicated to the sky recording of Mary.

The building was donated as a mosque with a surrounding complex with a caravanserai in the late 16th century by the Ottoman Grand Vizier Koca Sinan Paşa and bore the name of Koca Sinan Paşa Mosque. After the liberation of Bulgaria in 1878 and the departure of the Muslim population, the mosque was abandoned. In 1906 she was converted into a church. Today the church is functioning as a cultural monument of national importance.
