Chuspa

Chuspa is a village in the Venezuelan state of Vargas. The village is predominantly a fishing village that attracts tourists. It is with La Guaira and Higuerote, in the state of Miranda, connected by a Kustensstraße.

History

The village is situated on the banks of Chuspa River. The Conquistador Francisco Fajardo came in 1555 from Margarita here to conquer the region. During the colonial period were built on cocoa in Chuspatal. In the 17th century more and more black slaves came to work in the plantations. In 2 decades of the 18th century, the Chusparegion numbered about 200,000 cocoa trees.

On November 18, 1813 there will be a sea battle between the Independence Army under the leadership of Manuel Piar and the royalists between Puerto Francés and Chuspa. Manuel Piar defeated the Spaniards there.

Tourism

There is a small harbor for boats of fishermen and for the small tourist companies. There are also several restaurants and hostel. Before Chuspa itself is a 230 -meter long beach.

From the village you can rent a boat to go in about 10 minutes to beaches such as Caribe, Los Indios, Capino and mono Manso in the state of Miranda.

Education and Culture

Chuspa has a school and a kindergarten. There is also a public library.
