Ciarán Cuffe

Ciarán Cuffe ( born April 3, 1963 in Shankill, County Dublin) is an Irish politician and served from 2002 to 2011 deputy in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish Parliament.

Cuffe was born in 1963 in Shankill, a suburb of Dublin. He attended Gonzaga College in Ranelagh, studied at University College Dublin, and spent a year at the University of Venice, architecture and urban planning. Before his election to the Dáil Éireann, he taught urban planning at the Dublin Institute of Technology.

Cuffe joined the Green Party in 1982 (then Ecology Party ) in and sat down with other students for the preservation of Dublin 's cultural heritage.

1991-2003 Cuffe was a member of Dublin City Council (Dublin City Council). During this time he was one of the first to apply for a modern tram system in Dublin. 2002 Cuffe was elected to the Dáil Éireann. 2007 was his re-election. At the next election in February 2011, he could not repeat that success.

Cuffe is a member of Amnesty International.
